The 2024 Birmingham International Tattoo
Event Details
A parade unlike any other, the 2024 Birmingham International Tattoo brings together massed marching bands, pipes and drums, and exciting displays including the Inter-Service Field Gun Competition, dog-racing during the British Flyball Association competition, plus massed dancers. They will all join forces for over three hours of pageantry and spectacle in the comfort of the Resorts World Arena which is easily accessible on the NEC campus.
The Birmingham Tattoo would not be complete without the ever-popular Spectacular Grand Finale. Featuring over 1,200 performers, including the Parade of the Massed Standards, as well as the Royal Air Force Cosford Queen’s Colour and Escort, the Tattoo will certainly be cause for plenty of celebration and pride. The event includes the traditional “Land of Hope and Glory”, “The Evening Hymn”, led by the Tattoo guest vocalists, and joined by “The Lone Piper” in this fantastic celebration of pomp and pageantry.
Whether you prefer the massed marching bands, the skirl of the pipes and drums, the fast-paced action of the field gun or the flyball dog races, or the pomp and pageantry of the massed standard bearers, there is something for all the family at the 2024 Birmingham International Tattoo.

Royal Air Force Cosford King's Colour
The King's Colour originated as the Queen's Colour when it was initially presented to the No 1 School of Technical
Training on 25 July 1952 by Her Majesty The Queen, but as a result of her passing on the 8 September 2022, the
Queen's Colour is now referred to as the King's Colour. The Colour is unique in being the only one in any of the armed
Services which is paraded by non-commissioned servicemen, a privilege which normally only falls to commissioned officers. The Parade of Massed Standards
The Tattoo is one of the few occasions in the UK where you can see such a massed collection of standards together.
As well as the Royal British Legion and Royal Air Forces association, we are pleased to welcome the Federation of
Birmingham Ex-Service Associations which has about 40 member associations from the armed services regimental
associations, and various campaign associations.RNRMC Field Gun Competition
Gun crews from the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force will perform many of the actions that have
become part of this competitive activity, including the need to unlimber the items, carry the gun, wheels and limber -
approximately one ton in total, the weight of a family car - and fire the gun at the end of the run.British Flyball Dog Display
Flyball is a team relay race with four dogs in each team. The object is for each dog to jump four low hurdles, trigger
a 'Flyball Box', catch the tennis ball and return over the jumps to the start and finish line. As soon as the first dog is
back the second can go, and so on until all four dogs have returned with their balls. The first team to have all four dogs back without fault wins that particular race.British Tenor Tim Pitman
We welcome back British Tenor Tim Pitman who will join all the performers for the spectacular Grand Finale
including the ever-popular Land of Hope and Glory and other vocal favourites. The United Kingdom Disco Display Team
The local dance groups will demonstrate their energy, enthusiasm and enjoyment for the art of dance. -
